Anna's craft cupboard sketch

i used to do these sketches all the time and havent played along in over a year so i thought why not....i did last months sketch too but i didnt put it up. and well this one was done about a week ago and am only putting it up now.
i dont like doing anything (besides going to the gym) without my kids and can literally count on one hand the amount of times we have gone out without them, and they were all to big events like a wedding or an army ball. which is fine as i have to get dressed up anyway and am a little less stressed about getting snot or gorgeous grubby finger prints on me.
this night was back in april and was an army dinning in night.
the men have to wear the outfit my husband is wearing and the women wear cocktail attire.
you sit down for a 3 course meal and drink port to toast the speech's.
its a very late night as your not allowed to leave until the CO allows which is generally midnight.
anyway we had a great night.
so here is the sketch

and here is my page

thanks for looking and any comments you may leave.

im loving playing along with this word challenge and this month was another great sketch and word.
unfotunately the sketch didnt go with my photo but so i will have to use it on a different page.
straight away i thought about scrapping the photo of my son who had a birthday a little while ago but i already had the photo printed so i could start straight away.
a little friend of his from school was sitting right next to him and got in the photo so i covered his head with the
this was his first real birthday party as he started prep this year so they were friends from school not just family friends.
he is such a shy and reserved kid we were so worried about him at prep but although the majority of the class is rather rowdy he has found himself a nice little group of friends that are very similar in personality.

so here is my page

and if you want to play along this is the gorgeous sketch they provided

although i used this sketch (not for another challenge though)

thanks for looking

paper stories - july

i havent had much chance to scrap with school holidays and then the rush of going back to school and craziness with afterschool activities but i have managed a few layouts and i definitely had to do this one as i loved the sketch.
i couldnt crop one of photos to make it into a square so they had to stay as rectangles and i also struggled as my first photo was a different way to the rest of them and i like things the same but im trying to let it go and just love the page i did.
unfortunately we had such a great time on mothers day i forgot to take a photo and only realised when i had gone to tuck them in before i went to bed so i quickly got the camera and took photos.
so here is the sketch

and here is my page

close ups...i love that washi tape. i dont know what im going to do when it runs out

love that quote.

bird is the word - courage

i did this page a very soon after the word came out but then with school holidays, hubby on holidays and having the inlaws up for a week i never stuck it down.
so i finally did today.
this word was so easy for me to use and all i had to do was to find an awesome quote that went with my photo.
some of you may know that my husband is in the army and has had several deployments overseas during his career. this is a photo of him in afghanistan in 2008. i was 3 months pregnant with our second baby when he left and he returned 4 days before our son was born.
this photo was taken out on patrol. the previous night the had been involved in a firefight with the taliban. his pack has a bullet hole in it and the bullet actually went through a plastic sachet of tuna that was inside. his pack was sitting about 2 metres away. whilst out on patrol he came across a cache of weapons that the taliban had tried to hide and they were expected to have been used in the firefight the night before.
obviously due to operational security he wasnt allowed to tell me what had happened but that he was ok and not hurt and that i wasnt allowed to get upset by the story the media would run as they like to hype everything up. due to my father in law being in the army too he was able to get a friend to drop off the army paper (that had this photo splashed on the front page ) to my house prior to normal delivery and at a special request from my father in law, the officer who dropped off the paper was to be in civvies as he knew that i would panic having someone turn up on my door step in uniform and that is not what i needed being so heavily pregnant.

so here is the sketch that i followed

and here is my page

and a close up of the quote

and a close up of my cluster

i love to use recycled things so i have added a stamp with the rising sun on it, some hesh from my husbands yowie suit, and a broken zip with a kangaroo on it.

thanks for looking and any comments you may leave.
